Here’s a brief update on the markets, some Tracking List positions and clients of Grandich Publications.
U.S. Stock Market – I continue to look for more and more people to buy into the “Happy Days Are Here Again” belief and for the DJIA to continue working higher into the June/July time frame. The mother of all bear market rallies has some punch left in it but don’t get comfortable as we shall be keeping an eye on the exit.
Interest Rates – Without the Fed buying trillions of a terminally ill paper, I believe rates would’ve been much higher. When the house of cards comes apart again, I don’t anticipate the Fed being in a position to flood the market with liquidity again. I would avoid any bond or CD maturities longer than two years.
Gold – Forgive me for being a little giddy by just wanting to say to the overwhelming number of gold perma-bears, people who called gold in a bubble and the vast majority who recommended shying away from it and haven’t been able to get back in, the following.
U.S. Dollar – I continue to see it attempting to work towards my target of 83-84 basis the U.S. Dollar Index.
Oil and Gas – Oil to $90+, Natural Gas as low as $2 possible this year.
Tracking List
Silver could outpace gold for awhile so I remain especially attracted to silver plays. SSRI and HL remain among my favorite silver plays. HAT had very good drill news and while uranium stocks have been in a spiraling down mode for quite some time, I think we’re already in a base-building phase and look for HAT, URE and DML among others to do better going forward.
Oh, and Continental Minerals…
Grandich Clients
Anooraq Resources – Another great quarter appears in the cards and with that we could see a $2+ handle on the share price.
Crescent Resources – Still no word on announced private placement closing. I had hoped to participate in it.
Crocodile Gold – I think emerging producers continue to be an important part of resources portfolios and CRK needs to be a part of most. I’m expecting lots of news in the coming weeks and outside of a serious decline in the gold price, I don’t see how the current share price isn’t compelling speculative value.
Crosshair Exploration – There continues to be chatter about the Labrador moratorium being lifted earlier and good drill results continue to flow. If one hung in this far, I don’t see any reason to leave at this point.
Donner Metals – Waiting on more drill results. Stay tuned.
Evolving Gold – It may just be me but I feel from the moment “Tookie” Angus took charge, he has everyone at EVG singing this about the future of EVG
Farallon Resources – More good news on the exploration and production front continues.
Formation Metals – Made this announcement this morning and tells me more news to come.
Garibaldi Resources – When you remove the value of its ownership of another exploration company’s share, the market cap is just a few million for all its exploration potential. Cheap may be an understatement.
Heatherdale Resources – Read recent comment
Northern Dynasty Minerals – Seems to struggle with a $10+ handle but I think it’s becoming a new base level on the belief gold is heading towards new highs this year.
Oromin Explorations – Recent drill results continue to suggest the company’s projects hold millions of ounces of gold and confirmation of that is due out in the not-too-distant future. Stay tuned and ignore (I do) anyone who expects news and a share price up every day.
Rodinia Minerals – Continues to develop two key lithium projects with excellent potential.
Silver Quest Resources – Batter up!
Spanish Mountain Gold – See this comment
Strathmore Resources – A combination of exploration and development projects makes in my biased book STM a key holding in any uranium portfolio.
Sunridge Gold – We hope to see fresh news in the coming weeks. Nevsun’s continued success can’t hurt.
Taseko Mines – The stock breaks out to new levels, consolidates and then does it again. Such appears the case around $6.
Timmins Gold – A nice bump up in reserves and a wealth of exploration upside still ahead makes this up and coming producer very attractive – especially to another even bigger producer.
I received this email from a reader:
Peter, I just came back from a 2 week’s vacation in Canada. I went in the Canadian Rockies, starting from Calgary via Bus and via Train all the way to Vancouver. I stopped along the way to Lake Louise and Banff, and I sent the last 5 days in Vancouver
All I can say is: I SEE WHY YOU PRASE VANCOUVER SO MUCH. What a heaven place is Canada. I love Banff, and Lake Louise. My wife and I are considering buying a second vacation home in either Vancouver or Banff.
What a heaven place…….. I love Canada
I’ve always spoken about how beautiful I find Canada and how my fellow Americans need to explore it. And he’s right; Vancouver is my favorite town for many things… except hockey!
