May I ask for your complete and undivided attention.
Ask most Americans what they believe was their country’s biggest tragedy in modern history and they will tell you it was 911. You don’t have to be American to recall what it felt like on that day.
A groundswell of sympathy and support flourished to financially support those lost on that tragic day.
Because it was so “normal” to see so many Americans rush to help, no one really paid any special attention to the fact that 40,000+ people went to Ground Zero to help. American leaders not only didn’t stop them, but many encouraged and applauded their efforts. Can you remember the groundswell of emotion that gripped us all?
If you were one of those 40,000+ who like most of us, felt such a desire to help, would you proceed with your assistance after hearing EPA Secretary Whitman say its safe? Of course you would and these caring Americans and others proceeded to spend hours, days, weeks and months at Ground Zero. We must remember the recovery, the bodies being brought out and how we felt at the time.
Now after 8+ years, those 40,000+ have seen 70% of them become sick, severely ill and die. They’ve lost their jobs, homes and life savings battling the illnesses that we all know where they came from. And whether you like what I’m about to say or not, it is the truth – America has abandoned them!
